Our Story

I'm James and I didn’t exactly stroll into tourism – I kind of crashed into it at full speed. Working for other tour companies taught me pretty quickly that it didn’t matter how many great reviews you got or how much effort you put in, you were still just another number on a spreadsheet. The people actually creating the experiences weren’t properly valued. That sticks with you—and it’s what eventually led me to build Ultimate Scottish Tours and Events. If companies don’t look after their people, they can’t be too surprised when those same people go off and build something better.

Nikki is the brains, the charm, and honestly the slightly obsessed heartbeat of the whole thing. She’s got degrees in history and politics, loves ancient myths, Scottish royalty, Harry Potter, and every Westie she sees. She’s got this knack for making anyone—even the grumpiest teenager—actually care about history. And when it comes to events, she’s an certainly knows how to put on a show!.

From day one, I’ve kept things pretty simple: create unforgettable experiences and treat our team properly. After seeing what it’s like to feel undervalued, I knew I wanted to do things differently. With the cost of living going the way it is, I’m committed to paying some of the best rates in Scottish tourism and building a place where people feel genuinely respected and looked after—not just used and replaced.
